Mick Ward, Attorney at LawMick started practicing in 1973 with an older, respected attorney who had recently separated his practice from that of a large regional firm. The new firm of Rudy & Ward focused primarily on estate planning and administration, business and real estate matters; and the mentoring he received, and the honesty and integrity which characterized that business relationship, set the standard for Mick’s future professional life.

In 1983, Mick formed Ward & Bolin with a law school friend. That practice allowed him to focus to an even greater extent on the preferred areas of practice that he still pursues.

After a short stint as a solo practitioner, in December, 1998, Mick was invited to form Ward, Tyler & Scott, which melded his established business, estate and real estate practice with a largely insurance-defense practice, and grew to thirteen lawyers before his departure to form Ward & King, LLC in March, 2008.

Mick has been president of the Floyd County Bar Association and of the Southern Indiana Estate Planning Council. As a matter of civic involvement, he has written various articles in local publications concerning estate planning and business matters, and has made numerous presentations regarding his areas of practice to local organizations or groups.

Outside the office, Mick enjoys time with his wife of 42 years, Carol, a retired teacher and accomplished bridge player; his daughter Kristi (also a teacher) and her family; his daughter Katy (a veterinarian) and son Cory, who works for an electronics company that Mick does some work for. Mick has been a scuba divemaster since 1994, and has travelled extensively pursuing that passion, especially with Katy and Cory who also dive. He enjoys downhill skiing and has travelled in pursuit of that passion as well. Other travel, occasional golf, working in the woods surrounding their home in the Southern Indiana hills and remodeling a recently purchased old cottage keep him busy at other times.

Mick subscribes to the theory that, in life in general, and particularly in the legal business, honesty and integrity are paramount; that, without either, both life and the practice of law would be a lot more difficult.
